One word that changes everything

A baby's first word is a huge event for any parent. The eagerly awaited moment when the toddler says "mommy" for the first time. Unfortunately, not all parents will be able to experience it. Many go to great lengths every day to get their child to start communicating. Many of them, despite the effort, will never hear the two most beautiful words "I love you" from their child.

Many years of waiting

Children with autism begin to speak much later than their peers. Often, lack of speech is the first worrying sign that prompts parents to consult a doctor. However, many children start saying their first words very late. It also happens that they never say even a single word. For their parents, this is a real suffering. Come to terms with the fact that the child will never call out "Mommy!", will never turn to Daddy, will never say how much he loves his parents. But you don't need words to truly love!

Communication is the key

Even non-speaking children, want to communicate with the world and their loved ones. That's why it's so important to let them speak, in the way they choose. There are many ways of alternative communication through which a child can show what he or she needs at the moment, how he or she feels or what he or she wants.

That's why at the JiM Foundation, we teach children to communicate through properly selected, professional and consistent therapy. You can help us do this by going to the website www.jim.org/pomagam and get children with autism to say how much they love their parents. Not just with words.

We have prepared a special training for Parents, teachers and therapists "Effective communication - or how a child can communicate with you"., where Dr. Agnieszka Kossowska will present various possibilities of alternative communication. So that the child will find his way of speaking! You are welcome!
