Difficult Questions--Good Solutions. Sexuality of people with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum. Practical training conference

On April 14-15, 2016, a national conference will be held in Gdynia on
"Difficult Questions... Good Solutions. Sexuality of people with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum. Practical training conference".

The invitation to the conference is addressed to everyone who works with people with intellectual disabilities and the autism spectrum on a daily basis, as well as parents. The conference will feature speakers from Poland, Belgium and the Netherlands, who have extensive experience in working both in the area of sexuality and with people with intellectual disabilities and the autism spectrum.

The conference speeches will focus primarily on practical issues, i.e. the proper handling of the emergence of problematic behavior of a sexual nature in people with intellectual disabilities and the autism spectrum. In view of the fact that these people are much more likely to experience sexual violence, while in our system they do not receive proper support, and this issue will be widely discussed during the sessions. There will also be a voice from people with disabilities who will highlight their rights in accessing sexual education.

An integral part of the conference is a workshop for expert witnesses, psychologists and educators, therapists on supporting victims of sexual violence with intellectual disabilities and their families, which will be led by Aafke Scharloo, a therapist from the Netherlands.
