April 2 - good job!

On April 2, World Autism Awareness Day, all of Poland glowed blue. It glowed and DANCED, because we at JiM do nothing normally

It started as usual. With a simple idea. How about a dance? We did not want parents of children with autism to be seen as sad people full of resentment towards the world. We wanted to show that it is possible to live normally with autism. To raise and love your child. To be a happy person. Because autism is not the end of the world.

The idea was crazy enough to be implemented. The JiM machine was set in motion. In five Polish cities (Warsaw, Lodz, Olsztyn, Gliwice and Poznan) stood huge light bulbs, glowing blue. And, most importantly, playing. Very loudly playing. Because when we dance, we dance so that the whole world can hear us.

On April 2, hundreds of JiM parents, their friends, acquaintances, therapists and JiM fans gathered around the embers. They were not alone that day. Thousands of people set the JiM bulb as their profile picture on Facebook. They were glowing with us to tell people: 1/100th - one child in 100 is already diagnosed with autism.

Great support was given to us by celebrities. They photographed themselves in blue for us and were with us Kazik Staszewski, Maryla Rodowicz, Kamil Bednarek, Natalia Kukulska, Natalia Niemen, Kasia Wilk, Ania Rusowicz, the bands Raz Dwa Trzy and Lemon, and the cabaret Ani Mru Mru. We were most touched by Kazik, who looked adorable with blue balloons.

As every year, we were also remembered by Bronislaw Komorowski, President of the Republic of Poland, who changed the background photo on Facebook to our graphic with the slogan - April 2, World Autism Awareness Day. Poland in blue.

We thank them all very much. We also remember that there would be no Poland in Blue if it weren't for JiM parents - coordinators of JiM Clubs from Warsaw, Lodz, Olsztyn, Giwice and Września and Ostrow. They were the ones who worked hard for several weeks, organizing bulb sites, arranging calls, arguing with officials. They worked so that all of Poland could turn blue.

We thank you very much for this. With you even horses to steal.

We are hugging you tightly!

Tom, Marcin and Sylwia
